Our boy Shay from N*E*R*D came through the Shmack VA office yesterday. He gave some of the Shmack crew tickets to the last Glow in the Dark Tour date in NYC next week. Also, he showed us the news report on the new remix for "Everybody Nose". All the VA boyz are on it. Fam, T, Shay, Chad and P.

Back in In Shanghai!! Zach is working hard to change the tech packs from our revisions. The days are long we seem to be pulling 10-12 hours mix that with the jet lag and you get some fiesty workers. Overall the trip is dope though we have allot in store for you in the coming seasons. We plan to launch another division of Shmack this spring '09 called "SPLINTER" this small group will be very fast. Our plan is to distribute it to only the best retailers around the world. It will not be for everyone due to the cuts and fits and the dark graphic language. Splinter has some dope collabs coming too...... But i assure you it will break necks. We will keep you updated on Splinter closer to the drop date.

Gucci just dropped these frames and i think another colorway. They resemble aviators/sport's... LV dropped some that look similar in the spring for about double the price.

Yo, China Part 2

10 hours after leaving the denim Maker we made it to Shanghai. i think this pic was taken at 3 am. This is the lobby of the Highton in Shanghai. Our new residents for the next 5 days.

Dinner at the airport. Another wonderful dish of rice.....before the riot.

Planes, bikes and buses. We had to go back to the airport. 2 hours on the bus and once we got to the airport there was some riot shit going on. I wish i had a video camera. These people were slinging food at the flight operators and everything.

Lunch. Yep they have KFC.

Not sure of her name but she was busy the whole time and makes a mean cup of coffee.

We arrived at our denim maker to review our washes and samples. The above photo is from the fabric market (nylon swatches).

I forgot this pic. this was my hotel amenities in my bathroom. girl undies, lube, condoms and a vibrating condom...... Oh and they gave me a toothbrush.

Update!!! it's 7-17-08 We are still alive and kicking. It's been a minute since the last post. We were captured by the madams at the Karaoke bar.... Not really, we have just been grinding and i finally got a chance to upload some more pics. Promise it won't take so long next time. We will be uploading some sneak previews of up coming Shmackness too.

My Chemistry major roommate first introduced this to me last year and I think I spent a whole night playing with this stuff. All it takes is some baby powder and some water and you get really interesting results:

What up? Sorry it's been a min. since we have updated the blog..... Some of the Shmack team dipped over to China for a week to get all the goods right for the upcoming MAGIC show. Over the next week I will be posting our days events to give you a behind the scene account of Shmack China.

The first part of the trip was brutal..... We had to get on another fight, then barely got on the plane to Shanghai From ATL. I don't want to bore you with all the details but we eventually........... made it to Guangzhou China. This is the first leg of the trip where we went to the vast fabric and trim markets. Then tomorrow we will visit our denim factory to make comments on our fall goods and the fresh spring 1 '09 delivery!! Above are some photos from our trip. stay tuned for more sneak peeks and antics from your friends at Shmack.

China to Project NYC

First, some of the Shmack team is heading to China for a work stint!!! We leave this sat. till the 20th then we go straight to NYC for the Project Trade Show from July 21st till the 23rd. This show is a must in the fashion industry and Shmack is honored to be showing our new Collections and footwear among the A list brands. We will be keeping you filled in on the Blog from the far East to the Big Apple.

Art Show "Transformed"

Starting this Friday July 11th at 7pm the opening of "Transformed" food and music will be provided for the opening night. The exhibit will continue till September 28th. The Contemporary Art Center of Virginia (CAC) wants you to see toilet paper rolls and gummy bears in a new way.
Those are just two of the unique materials employed by thirteen artists in “Transformed,” a group exhibition of two-dimensional, sculptural, installation and video art. Commonplace objects including fishing line, chairs, toothpicks and light bulbs have been manipulated, re-appropriated and elevated to the status of fine art.

Vice TV "True Norwegian Black Metal"

One our favorite Magazines VICE came out with a book on May 15th Called "True Norwegian Black Metal" This documentary captured the roots of Black metal's culture through photography by Peter Beste. In addition to the book they took a film crew through the brutal metal scene of Norway. Above is the 2nd part of a 5 part series that follows the band Gorgoroth and it's lead member Gaahl. These dudes are no joke!!!! They make Deicide look like alter boys.

I Met The Walrus

The other day a friend of mine showed me this animated short set to an interview of John Lennon and I have to say its the sickest thing I've seen in a long time.  Apparently a 14 year old kid snuck into Lennon's hotel room and was hit with some knowledge.  Here's a more in depth description and the video, check it out!

"In 1969, a 14-year-old Beatle fanatic named Jerry Levitan, armed with a reel-to-reel tape deck, snuck into John Lennon's hotel room in Toronto and convinced John to do an interview about peace. 38 years later, Jerry has produced a film about it. A.P.C. "Butler worn out"

This is an interesting denim project done by A.P.C.!!! Apparently the jeans get the wash effect by having someone wear them for a period of time.... I've been a huge fan of vintage jeans for a while and it's basically the same concept. Read more here.
